He showed his true persona and personality last night which made it an even better concert experience. This was my first time seeing him live and he truly is an entertainer, jumping and moving all over the stage. J Cole is a character.
He not only performed hits from his Born Sinner album but some great old tracks from his Friday Night Lights mix-tape. In the middle of all the hype Kendrick Lamar walked onto the stage and joined Cole in the ending of the song. Kendrick then performed, "m.A.A.d city" and "Backstreet Freestyle" in between the two songs he thanked J Cole for his support.
After rapping, standing, jamming and laughing for an hour as if the night couldn't get any better, Jay Z strolled onto the stage in a black beanie and black mink coat. The crowd went insane! He performed "Public Service Announcement" and "f**ckwithmeyouknowigotit." In between the songs he stopped and gave J Cole a special birthday gift, his own Roc-A-Fella chain. Jay Z looked like a proud papa and Cole was genuinely thankful. It was legendary.
With the two guest surprise appearances I thought J.R. Smith or Carmelo were going to come out, since the Knicks won. Hahah. Asking for too much, now.
It was a great moment in the hip-hop world of what is to come from these young rappers.
